Lutfi Janania
Lutfi Janania (b.1988) a New York-based Honduran-Palestinian artist. Raised on a bioreserve in the rainforest of San Pedro Sula, he merges nature with his unique cultural heritage using materials such as natural fibers, wood, metal and paper clay to create surreal yet elegant biomorphic sculptures.
In 2020, Janania established Rosalila design studio in Brooklyn. He collaborated with Kennedy Yanko on “Our Valence”, an installation commissioned by Time Equities Inc. Art-in-Buildings. 2020 also saw a sculpture collection commission for the Rockaway Hotel.
In 2021, won HBO Max's 'Full Bloom' Season 2. First solo show was in 2022 at The Museum of Art and Design. Created installations for Christian Dior, Performance Space New York, Palm Heights, the Art Production Fund, amongst others.
His work has shown in exhibitions at Ryan Lee, Dinner Gallery, and Regular Normal Gallery. In 2023, received the “Creative Mind” award from Galerie Magazine.
Janania’s major sculptural debut: “The Dream Machine Experience: Bina48’s Garden” (2024, New York) at the David Rubenstein Atrium at Lincoln Center, conceived by Nona Hendryx in collaboration with artist Mickalene Thomas.
Janania’s latest institutional exhibition was as a selected artist for “The Brooklyn Artist” at the Brooklyn Museum (2024).
